Biography

Dr. Narcisa Rivera-Isla is a dedicated educational leader, published author, and early childhood specialist with an extensive career spanning classroom instruction, college lecturing, curriculum evaluation, regional supervision, and international school leadership. Throughout her multi-faceted work in basic and higher education, her lifelong commitment has remained constant: understanding how children learn, thrive, and achieve true academic success.

As a researcher and module writer for the Every Child A Reader Program (ECARP)—a flagship initiative of the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines—Dr. Rivera-Isla authored the groundbreaking handbook, Multiple Intelligences-Based Strategies for Emergent Literacy: A Handbook for Developing Reading and Writing Readiness—Bringing Success to ECARP. This work established her signature approach of integrating Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences framework into early reading and writing readiness.

By pairing high-frequency sight words, complex vocabulary, and decoding patterns with familiar, age-appropriate song melodies, MPRA utilizes Musical-Rhythmic Intelligence as a cognitive anchor—building rapid sight-word automaticity and reading fluency without stigma.
